Necessary, as the author states "Castaway is meant to be unfair, unwieldly, and brutal. Player discretion is advised due to themes and imagery of pain, death, polite nudity, creepy crawlies, supernatural and body horror, despair, and generally bad times." Session 0 can ensure that if you have any concerns with certain subjects, they may be addressed before the gameplay begins. 

Each Player will need the following dice:

Life is dangerous and survival is always a contest. Stay in one place and build a shelter to fend of the wilds, or delve into the mysterious jungle to try and discover what lays waiting in the dark. 

Sessions are 1 hour or more. First session is encouraged to be 90+ minutes to establish a strong foundation of play.
